Lewisporte Academy was very excited to participate in the School Sports NL 'Dart Outdoors' launch to begin Education Week in mid-February! Candice and Sean, representatives of School Sports NL, joined students and staff for an assembly to officially launch the initiative, which encourages schools to get students outside for some activity. Area MHA Derek Bennett, District Senior Education Officer Maria Antle, School Council Chairperson Audrey Sheppard and School Council member Angie Moyles were present to witness the excitement and participate in the activities. Mr. Oake, our Physical Education teacher, led the students in a 'Trek Across Newfoundland' QDPA session once guests had brought greetings and Principal Pam Coish was pleased to welcome everyone to our school. All students spent some time outside during the day enjoying time in the snow and sun! Snacks were provided by School Sports NL for students and staff members and everyone in attendance was pleased to have the opportunity to take advantage of some good weather and get moving!
